Cyclone Dana Live Updates: Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport and Odisha’s Biju International Airport resumed flight operations after a slight improvement in weather conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest release, has predicted flash floods in 16 districts of Odisha due to heavy rainfall. The districts expected to experience flash floods are Angul, Balasore, Boudh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Puri.

Meanwhile, in Kolkata, several areas remain flooded due to heavy rains. Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim said all pumping stations have been alerted to prevent further waterlogging, and Kolkata Municipal Corporation has set up suction machines to clean wells and manholes.

In Odisha, government authorities and rescue forces had last night started evacuating people from areas likely to be affected by the cyclone. To accommodate the displacement of nearly 10 million people, multi-purpose cyclone shelters, flood shelters and other structures have been identified and prepared for temporary relief camps.

Arrangements have also been made for supply of food, drinking water, lighting, sanitation and health facilities to the people evacuated to such shelters, Finance and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said.
