British singer Raye has said all her songwriting books disappeared after her car was stolen.

The multi-Brit Award winner, whose real name is Rachel Keen, was working on the follow-up to her debut album My 21st Century Blues but said the second record will not be released “anytime soon” following the theft.

On Instagram, where she also shared photos from her 27th birthday, the singer wrote: “It’s my birthday and my car got stolen with all my songwriting books in the trunk so no second album anytime soon, I love you, bye.”

One of the photos then showed a cake with sprinkles and red icing emblazoned with the words: “Sorry your car was stolen” (sic).

Best known for hits such as Escapism, Flip A Switch and Prada, Raye has been climbing its way through the ranks for years.

Her debut album was nominated for the 2023 and this year’s Mercury Prize made history with the British for winning six awards – the most in one year – including Album of the Year.
