Salem man charged with burglary and shoplifting after staying at Farm Fresh Market after hours

The Marion County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged a 33-year-old Salem man with both burglary and shoplifting after he was allegedly found in a bathroom at Farm Fresh Market in Salem after hours.

Adam Durham of West Spruce Street allegedly hid in the store during closing time and when everyone was gone, he allegedly took food off the shelves. Police searched the building after the burglar alarm sounded and allegedly found Durham hiding in the bathroom and eating some of the food. He also reportedly took a bag of other food from the store next door.

During his first court appearance Thursday afternoon, Durham was released on pretrial conditions, with no contact from Farm Fresh Market. Durham also had a misdemeanor arrest out of Marion County for failure to appear in connection with another shoplifting case.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for December 5.
