Expert Bo Nix, Justin Herbert, Troy Franklin prop bets: We recommend a +150 prop

The Oregon rookie connection is heating up for the Denver Broncos. Bo Nix and Troy Franklin were introduced to the wide receiver’s first NFL TD pass two weeks ago. They continued to establish themselves as a passing pair in the next game, a blowout win over New Orleans.

Another former Ducks star, Justin Herbert, enters NFL Week 8 with a depleted pass-catching squad for the Saints game. The Chargers scored 15 points in a loss to Arizona and won’t score more than 16 points in a game in 2024.

Nix and Franklin will look to take advantage of a prop-friendly draw with the lowly Carolina Panthers. We got another productive glimpse of the passing duo of the future for Denver. Here are NFL Week 8 props for the Oregon alumni.

Our expert prop bets for Bo Nix, Justin Herbert and Troy Franklin

Best Bo Nix Prop Bet: 2+ TD Passes

Chances: +150 at DraftKings

This matchup offers Nix an opportunity to take advantage of a team with injuries on both sides of the ball. Carolina’s defense has been bogged down by health issues all season, and not having QB Andy Dalton won’t help.

Carolina has allowed 14 TD passes to QBs so far this year, which ranks third in the NFL. With Bryce Young at QB for the Panthers, Denver’s defense should dominate, leading to favorable field position and repeated opportunities to match up against the league’s worst defense in points allowed (34.7 per game).

Nix didn’t register any TD passes while romping over the Saints because he didn’t have to as the defense dominated. In the two games leading up to last week, Nix passed for two TDs in each outing. He should be able to beat Young, which doesn’t seem difficult for most QBs to do.

Best Justin Herbert prop bet: Under 197.5 passing yards

Chances: -110 at bet365

At first glance, this may seem like an unruly gag game. The Saints rank 28th in passing yards allowed to opposing QBs. Herbert passed for a season-high 349 yards against Arizona.

But before Week 7, Herbert failed to pass for 180 yards in four of the five games played. With concerns about WR availability, he may not have the ammunition needed to succeed enough, even in a seemingly pass-friendly matchup.

Quentin Johnston (ankle) and Ladd McConkey (hip) missed practices this week. DJ Chark (groin) has not played yet this season and has been limited in training. Tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) was also missing from practice and Hayden Hurst (groin) was limited.

Even if some of the busted players are able to get on the field, Los Angeles’ passing game was lackluster when the WRs and TEs were in action. The Chargers can let their defense determine their outcome and can’t depend on Herbert.

Best Troy Franklin prop bet: Over 28.5 receiving yards

Chances: -114 at FanDuel

Franklin has become more involved in the offensive flow over the past two games and should be able to shut down this prop quite easily. He has totaled 81 receiving yards in his last two games, including 50 in Week 7.

Denver’s 2024 fourth-round draft pick comes into the mix with Sean Payton’s pull on some of its youngest playmakers on offense. Franklin had season highs of five receptions and six targets in Week 7.

Over the past four weeks, the Panthers rank 25th in receiving yards allowed to opposing WRs.
