First water conservation policy presented by the Municipality of Lethbridge

First water conservation policy presented by the Municipality of Lethbridge

The City of Lethbridge is introducing a water conservation policy, the first of its kind for the city.

During Thursday’s Governance SPC meeting, the city council got a first look at the policy.

The purpose of the policy is to provide guidelines for the proactive use of water and to establish responsibilities for managing the City’s water conservation program.

The policy will help protect and conserve resources, use resources efficiently, reduce long-term water availability and help increase public awareness of conservation efforts.

The city aims to reduce water consumption by 20 percent by 2030.

The policy still needs to be approved by the city council.
