Friends express support for director injured after stabbing

SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) – Jessica Dean has spent many Sundays in the company of Bill Christian at Solida Baptist Church, a place where he plays piano during morning worship.

Bill Christian was stabbedallegedly by a student’s parent while working as a South Point principal Thursday afternoon, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

“Bill means a lot to me. He has inspired me greatly and brought me closer to the Lord, and he has done a lot of great work for the Church,” Dean said.

Dean is still trying to figure out that something like this could happen.

“I obviously didn’t know what to do. I just immediately started crying. I thought, ‘Oh my God, why Bill Christian?’ It’s traumatic. I hate that he got hurt,” Dean said.

Dean says the rest of the church community is hurting along with her as they send thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

“They are devastated. They are devastated, just like all of us. We encourage all of you to keep us in your thoughts and prayers… we need it,” Dean said.
