Man on e-scooter in critical condition after collision in Brampton: police – CP24

Peel police say a man is in a life-threatening condition after being hit by a transport truck in Brampton.

A man on an e-scooter was hit by a transport truck in Brampton on Friday evening, sending him to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Peel Regional Police said they received multiple reports of a pedestrian being struck in the area of Dixie Road and Queen Street shortly after 6:30 p.m.

“What we know now is that the pedestrian was riding some kind of e-scooter and (…) that he was struck by the transport vehicle during a turning movement,” said Const. Tyler Bell-Morena told CP24.

According to officers, the truck driver remained at the scene.

The entire intersection is currently closed in all directions and Bell-Morena expects the roads to remain closed for the next two to three hours.

As the daytime hours get darker as we get closer to winter, Bell-Morena is warning anyone riding an e-scooter to wear something visible to the motorist.

“Visibility is essential, especially when you’re on an e-bike,” says Bell-Morena. “It is also up to motorists to be more alert and visible, especially transport drivers.”
