Washington Post announces that it will not support Harris or Trump in the US elections

Former Washington Post editor-in-chief Marty Baron lashed out at the newspaper’s “cowardice, with democracy as the victim.”

Baron said Trump would view the decision “as an invitation to further intimidate Bezos.”

“Disturbing spinelessness at an institution famed for its courage,” Baron wrote on X.

Lewis said he recognized that the board’s decision “will be read in a variety of ways, including as a tacit endorsement of one candidate, or as a condemnation of another, or as an abdication of responsibility.”

“That’s inevitable,” Lewis said. “We don’t see it that way.”
