Savage police: Man arrested in connection with ‘road rage’ shooting incident

Authorities arrested a man Monday in connection with a drive-by shooting in Savage.

If previously reporteda dispute at the intersection of Stagecoach Road and Preserve Trail led to a shooting that occurred about a half-mile away. When police arrived, they found one victim who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Savage police confirmed with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that it is being investigated as a road rage incident.

The shooting victim was sitting in his Eco Shield work truck at the time. The company confirmed with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that it was one of their employees involved in the incident and that they have undergone training to prevent road rage.

Savage police note that a 47-year-old man was taken into custody at his home in Shakopee on Friday without incident. The man has previously been convicted of a crime, which means he is not allowed to possess a firearm.

The suspect is currently in custody at the Scott County Detention Center on four charges, including second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault.

“This violent incident prompted an immediate and coordinated response from law enforcement authorities
agencies,” said Savage Police Chief Brady Juell. “After a quick investigation, we are happy to do so
confirm the arrest of a main suspect, and we express our gratitude to all assisting persons
agencies for their professionalism and dedication.”
