The RNLI’s 19,000-mile scroll relay ends in the Isle of Man

The RNLI has completed its 200th anniversary “scroll relay” in the Isle of Man, considered the “birthplace” of the organisation.

Over the past 236 days, the 7-meter-long scroll has traveled more than 18,000 miles (28,968 feet) while visiting 292 locations associated with the organization in the United Kingdom.

The bamboo document has collected more than 900 signatures from representatives of lifeboat stations, lifeguard units, fundraising establishments and shops.

Peel RNLI lifeboat operations manager Allen Corlett said the scroll “highlighted the RNLI’s vast network of lifesaving communities, each playing their part in saving lives at sea”.
