A mostly dry weekend with highs in the 70s and 80s

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Expect lows in the 50s tonight. You may need the long sleeves to prepare for the University of Alabama Homecoming Parade and the Magic City Classic Parade on Saturday morning; however, plan for another unseasonably warm afternoon. Temperatures at Legion Field for the Magic City Classic can reach 85ºC. At kickoff in Tuscaloosa we could see temperatures around 88ºC. Auburn fans traveling to Kentucky can expect a kickoff around 63 degrees. There is a very small chance of an isolated shower on Sunday, but it won’t be much. Skies will be partly cloudy, with slightly lower daytime temperatures in the 70s.

THE NEXT BIG THING: We are now on day 27 without a drop of rain in our area. Drought has reached moderate levels across most of our area and is likely to reach severe levels next week before rain returns. Avoid burning and be very careful when grilling. We will remain very dry through Halloween, although another front will approach from the northwest, and this may bring some isolated showers around November 1st.

There are no organized tropical systems in the Atlantic basin. We could see a strong tropical wave enter the Caribbean by November 4; however, this may turn to the northeast, similar to the latter system, Oscar.
