Liverpool have a big date with Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Although it is undoubtedly the toughest test Liverpool’s So far at least the Reds go into the match in scintillating form.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Arne Slot on Friday for the way he hit the ground Anfield al.

And with Arteta dealing with a number of serious injuries and availability issues ahead of Sunday’s match, Some have started to label Liverpool as favorites against the Gunners.

Graeme Souness predicts Liverpool’s game plan

Sunday feels like a real opportunity for Liverpool to set an early milestone in the match Premier League title race.

With Arsenal weakened by injury and suspension, the Reds can put seven points between them and the North Londoners.

Naturally, Arteta has been studying Liverpool all week and investigating how best to hurt Slot’s team.

What he will have seen is a team that is happy to cede the ball and parts of the pitch to the opponent before hurting them at the right moments.

And prescribe The Daily MailSouness says he believes this match plan can bring more joy to Liverpool on Sunday.

“I liked what they did against Chelsea on Sunday in their 2-1 win,” says the Liverpool legend. “They allowed Chelsea to have more possession – which is unusual for a team coming to Anfield – but a lot of that was in their own half and that didn’t worry them. They were happy to see how they had the ball in areas where they wouldn’t get hurt. Then, when the time was right, bang.

“I think we’ll see a similar game on Sunday, and that’s where Liverpool pose a real threat to Arsenal.”

Who will be missing for Arsenal?

Although Arsenal have finished ahead of Liverpool each of the past two seasons, the Reds have always given them at least a good game.

Last season’s match at the Emirates ended 3-1 to the Gunners, but was close until Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker conspired to put Arsenal ahead.

Before that, Liverpool could also have won the chaotic 3-2 game in 2022/2023. We can’t forget that the Reds went to N5 and also won 2-0 in the FA Cup in January.

So the point is that Arsenal, even at full strength, are never comfortable against Liverpool.

They will certainly miss William Saliba and Martin Odegaard on Sunday, while it seems likely that Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber will also be out. Opportunity knocks for Liverpool.
