Woman dies after motorcycle driven by husband goes off highway and hits cable barrier

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) – A woman was killed Wednesday after the motorcycle she was riding with her husband left the road and crashed into a cable barrier.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the crash happened around noon on Interstate 20 near mile marker 28 in Hinds County.

William Owens III, 27, was driving the 2022 Harley-Davidson with his wife, 24-year-old Desiree Owens, as a passenger.

While traveling on I-20, the motorcycle ran off the road and struck a cable barrier.

William Owens was taken to UMMC with unknown injuries, while his wife Desiree Owens suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The couple was from Redwood, Mississippi.
