Cymru Premier round-up: Nine-man Met hang on

Cymru Premier round-up: Nine-man Met hang on

Friday October 25

Cardiff met 2-1 Newtown: Cardiff Met finished the game with nine men, but still managed to hold on for the win against Newtown. An own goal from George Hughes gave the home side an early lead, but Dominic Smith drew Newtown level within four minutes from a corner. Jack Veale was sent off in the 17th minute for a dangerous lunge on Josh Lock, but Newtown were unable to capitalize. The closest they came was when Zeli Ismail hit the post with a fine free-kick, before Met broke the length of the field and Eliot Evans scored the winner. Gruff Morgan became the second home player to be shown a straight red when the substitute, who had only been on the pitch for nine minutes, clattered into Jojo Harries late on.
