M40 driver attacked near Beaconsfield in fake police car robbery

A motorist suffered a broken jaw and eye socket during a robbery where his vehicle was stopped by a fake police car after crashing on the highway.

The victim was attacked by a group of men after being told by a car with blue lights to pull into a car park following a collision with another car on the southbound M40 between High Wycombe and Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire.

After pulling off from junction two and parking in a car park on the A355 near the Pyebush roundabout, the man, aged in his 30s, was grabbed from his car and robbed of his phone, wallet and keys.

“Impersonating a police officer is an offense that we will not tolerate,” said PC Mollie Dugmore of Thames Valley Police.

“We are seeking information following this incident.”

The victim suffered serious physical injuries during the assault and was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged.

Police have just released details of the attack, which happened around 9:15pm BST last Sunday.

A police spokesman said that after the motorway collision, which resulted in “minor damage”, the man believed he was being stopped by a police vehicle, but it was believed the car had no other markings.

The attackers are said to have traveled in a red Nissan and a dark-colored Volvo.

Police are appealing for anyone with images of the M40 or surrounding areas from around 9.10pm to contact them.
