Revenge attack claims lives in Uttar Pradesh

In a tragic incident believed to be an act of revenge, a young man was beaten to death by four assailants in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, according to police reports.

The violent episode took place near Shahi police station on Friday evening when 21-year-old Ravi was returning home from a party with companions. Attackers Aman, Akash, Subhash and Shripal allegedly confronted Ravi and attacked him with sticks and iron rods, while also firing fire in the air, causing panic among the witnesses. Three others – Deepu, Sonu and Gaurav – were injured in the attack, police noted.

Ravi succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital, Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra said. Authorities suspect an old dispute involving Ravi’s younger brother Amit and the attackers as the motive. One suspect is in custody and the investigation into the arrest of the others continues.
