Police arrest a man for distributing a drug that caused an overdose

London police say they have arrested a man allegedly responsible for a number of non-fatal overdoses that prompted them a safety alert on Friday afternoon.

According to police, a man in a red sedan allegedly handed out a free drug to several people in the area of ​​Queens Avenue and Adelaide Street North.

London police have provided surrounding police forces with details of the description of the suspect and vehicle to assist in their investigation.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday, Strathroy-Cardoc police located the suspect in the area of ​​Second Street and Center Road in Strathroy.

However, police in Strathroy said the suspect fled in his vehicle.

Subsequently, Toronto police said they located the suspect in Etobicoke.

The suspect was arrested around 3:20 am on Saturday. No injuries have been reported.

A 26-year-old man from Thornhill has been charged with ‘resisting arrest’, ‘failure to stop for police/pursuit’ and ‘traffic on a schedule’.

Police are reminding anyone who may have received the free substance from the suspect not to ingest or use it and to call LPS.

The investigation is ongoing.
