FEMA Help Center opens in Buncombe County

FEMA has opened a new Disaster Recovery Center in Fairview to support people suffering losses due to Tropical Storm Helene.

The new center, located at Cane Creek Pool, opened Oct. 26. It will serve those in need daily from 8am to 7pm.

Visitors to the recovery centers can meet FEMA representatives in person, apply for assistance, get referrals to local assistance and apply for low-interest disaster loans, among other things.

Other centers are open in Bakersville, Boone, Brevard, Burnsville, Hendersonville, Lenoir, Marion, Marshall, Sylva, Waynesville, Jefferson, Newland, Old Fort, Sparta, Morganton and Charlotte.

Mobile recovery centers have opened in Buncombe County at Swannanoa Fire Rescue’s Bee Tree Fire Sub Station and in the Buncombe County Sports Park parking lot.
