Man arrested after stabbing at Altoona home following property dispute

One man is in custody after police say he stabbed another man in the leg and attacked a woman Friday evening at a home on the 1500 block of 3rd Street in Altoona.

According to the Altoona Police Department in a Facebook post, officers were dispatched to the home for reports of a stabbing just after 6:15 p.m.

Police said officers found a male victim with a stab wound to his leg at the intersection of 3rd Street and Walnut Avenue, who was taken to UPMC Altoona for treatment.

Officers said they contacted a female victim at the residence, who told them that a man, identified as Christopher Thomas, came to the home shortly before the 911 call to talk to her about a property exchange.

According to police, after a brief conversation at the front door, Thomas entered the home and began punching the female victim in the face several times.

Altoona police said Thomas then went to the male victim, who was sitting on a chair in another room, and began punching him in the face several times before pulling out a knife and stabbing him in the leg before leaving the home fled.

Police said in the post that it was later discovered that Thomas was staying at a halfway house in the Coalport area of ​​Clearfield County and was taken into custody early Saturday morning.

Police said the Blair County Sheriff’s Department, Logan Township Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police also assisted in the investigation.

Thomas faces several charges, culminating in assault and misdemeanor possession.

He is being held in the Blair County Prison on $150,000 bail.
