A North Cambria man was jailed Monday, accused of making unauthorized purchases through the account of an agency where he was once employed, authorities said.

Northern Cambria Borough Police charged James Matthew Wylie, 36, of the 600 block of Gray Avenue, with two counts of theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

According to an affidavit, Wylie allegedly opened a business account for Quality Life Services Inc. on Aug. 29. used to make unauthorized purchases totaling $922.18.

Wylie allegedly purchased a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2 tool and impact wrench set, and an Echo 17-inch straight-shaft gas trimmer.

The agency refused to pay the bill because Wylie had not given approval.

Wylie no longer works there.

Quality Life Services serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Cambria County.

Wylie also faces charges in connection with the alleged theft of tickets and money at Cambria Pit Stop in Hastings Borough.

According to an affidavit, Wylie entered the Beaver Street business on September 17 at 7:46 p.m. and walked through the store until an employee left the counter.

Wylie allegedly walked behind the counter and grabbed the money bag containing $157 in tickets and $1,687 in cash.

Hastings Borough Police have charged Wylie with theft by unlawfully taking and receiving stolen property.

Wylie was arraigned Monday in both cases by District Judge Michel Zungali of Hastings and sent to Cambria County Prison in Ebensburg. Bond was rejected.
