SC concealed weapons courses offered across the state

AIKEN, S.C. – As part of the state’s constitutional carry law, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division plans to host free concealed weapon permit classes in every county.

A certified instructor or local law enforcement officer must now provide at least two free courses per month in each province.

To comply, SLED partners with instructors and a number of agencies across the state.

This is why all SC voters will see this yes-or-no question on their ballot this election

This program is not intended to replace or modify existing classes taught by instructors in the state. It is the same permit program and free for the instruction portion of the course. Citizens can participate in any province, regardless of which region they live in.

There are a number of requirements to participate in the course:

  • Must have a South Carolina driver’s license or own real estate in the state.
  • To participate you must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must bring a pistol and 25 rounds of ammunition for the shooting portion of the course, or make an appointment in advance to rent a pistol for use during the course.
If legal challenges fail, Moore will...

Those who attend the classes receive a minimum of four hours of instruction on firearm safety, self-defense laws and laws surrounding the carrying of firearms. At the end of the program there is a 50-question multiple-choice test and a 25-round qualification course. To pass you must pass with a score of 70% or better.

Anyone who would like to attend and has questions can email [email protected].
