BAGHDAD – In the early morning of October 22, Iraqi Security Forces (ISF), enabled by coalition forces as part of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR), conducted and followed up attacks on multiple ISIS locations in Central Africa. Iraq, attacking several senior ISIS leaders and killing at least seven ISIS operatives, according to a U.S. Central Command press release.

During the Iraqi-led operation, two U.S. service members were injured while assisting Iraqi forces in operating the site. They are in stable condition. U.S. officials have not released additional details about them.

As previously released, Iraqi security forces, powered by the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, conducted precision airstrikes in northeastern Iraq from October 14 to 15, killing four ISIS members, including a senior ISIS leader. Both Iraqi-led attacks were carried out to disrupt and degrade ISIS attack networks in Iraq.

These Iranian-supplied weapons, which were launched episodically by the Houthis and Iran’s Aligned Militia Groups (IAMGs) over several days throughout the week, posed a significant risk to the United States, allies, and partner forces, as well as to civilians in the region. The weapon systems were downed by a combination of U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy assets deployed to the region.
