Lakeland, Northland Pines, three others advance past boys soccer regional finals

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) – Five area boys soccer teams have escaped their regional final games and are advancing to sectionals.

#1 Northland Pines narrowly edged past #4 Barron to win 1-0 and #1 Columbus Catholic defeated #5 Pacelli/Iola-Scandinavia 2-1. #1 Lakeland won in shut-out fashion vs. #5 Seymour and won 2-0. #1 Eau Claire Memorial earned a victory over #4 Wisconsin Rapids, winning 8-0.

The night saw two bands going in different directions. For #3 Marshfield they drew #2 Holmen 1-1, but they owned their tiebreak and the Tigers advanced. Meanwhile, #3 Amherst also leveled Gibraltar/Sevastopol 1-1, but missed a tiebreak, ending the Falcons’ season.
