MCC will host fall biotech and health open houses on the Lowell campus

Middlesex Community College helps students access the workforce of some of the most in-demand health and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) industries in the state. A fall open house focused on MCC’s health and biotechnology programs will be held in Lowell on Tuesday, October 29 at 5 p.m. to introduce prospective students and their families to these offerings.

“Our health students are well prepared to enter their fields with hands-on clinical and laboratory hours combined with an industry-driven curriculum taught by professors who are experts in their fields,” said Dean of Health Karen Townsend. “We are excited to highlight our programs, state-of-the-art spaces, supportive faculty and award-winning student support services. If you are interested in a rewarding and stable career in healthcare, join the event and learn more about how MCC can help you get started.”

MCC’s health programs include Nursing, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Dental Laboratory Technology, Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Healthcare Administration, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technician and Radiologic Technology. During the open house, participants can tour the program’s facilities, including the dental hygiene clinic, new nursing simulation and laboratory spaces, and the biotechnology laboratory.

“The biotechnology program at MCC is a leader in producing well-prepared graduates to work in industry in Massachusetts,” said Dean of STEM Marie Tupaj. “Our faculty bring their field experiences to the classroom, in addition to offering hands-on experiences through our fully renovated laboratory and paid internship offerings. The Open House will allow us to showcase the value of the program, including the career development and networking opportunities we provide to guide our students to success.”

The Open House in Lowell offers students and their families the opportunity to meet faculty, speak with staff from all student service areas, take a campus tour and apply to MCC. Additional experiences include learning about college and career guidance, financial aid, free tutoring, dual enrollment, honors options, and student access and support services.

Middlesex will also host a fall open house in Bedford on Wednesday, November 6 at 5 p.m. Students can learn more about all the programs, tour the Bedford campus and apply to MCC.

“MCC offers students of all ages, backgrounds and goals many opportunities to achieve success,” said Assistant Director of Admissions Jenna Hurd. “Whether you are exploring your options or are interested in learning more about our biotechnology and health options, we look forward to welcoming you to our campuses for the Open House events!”
