One arrested after leaving the scene of the accident that knocked out several utility poles and damaged the fire hydrant

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – One person was arrested after leaving the scene of an early morning accident Saturday, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD).

Police said the crash happened at 2:40 a.m. on East Clark Boulevard and involved two vehicles. One vehicle left the scene.

The crash downed three utility poles and damaged a fire hydrant. It closed part of E. Clark Blvd. for hours as crews worked to repair the poles.

MPD said minor injuries were reported in the crash.

The driver who fled the scene has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene, failure to immediately warn and possession of a handgun while under the influence, MPD said.

Police have not released any further details about the crash, including the name of the driver who was arrested.
