Chelmsford High has been named a School of Recognition by DESE

CHELMSFORD – Chelmsford High School was recently named one of the state’s Schools of Recognition by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

As part of its annual accountability reporting process, DESE identifies a small number of schools from across the Commonwealth to receive the honor. This year there were only 57.

Schools selected for the recognition demonstrate strong performance, significant growth and consistently meet or exceed accountability goals.

This is the first time a school in the Chelmsford Public Schools district has been recognized for this achievement.

“I am incredibly proud of our high school teachers, administrators and support staff for their dedication and commitment to providing a quality education to our students,” said Superintendent of Schools Jay Lang. “As a district, we pride ourselves on creating an environment where students can thrive and become well-rounded and knowledgeable learners. This achievement further illustrates that our students receive an excellent education and are driven to succeed.”

Chelmsford High Principal Stephen Murray said he is especially proud of the students’ determination to do well on the MCAS tests, as well as the hard work put in by the entire CHS staff.

“Our level of success would not be possible without the collective efforts of our teachers and paraeducators,” he said.

Murray also praised teachers at the district’s middle and elementary schools for helping build a strong educational foundation for students.

“We are so grateful to the staff at every level in this district for giving Chelmsford High students the skills and insight they need to be successful,” he said.

Assistant Superintendent Linda Hirsch said receiving this honor is a testament to the district’s commitment to excellence in education.

“Our faculty and administration have put tremendous effort into support and programming over the years to provide our students with a top-notch education,” she said. “This recognition underlines their efforts.”
