Juan Pedro Benali reveals ‘keys to success’ after huge win against Jamshedpur FC

Juan Pedro Benali also praised his players for their great show.

Juan Pedro Benali, the head coach of North East United FCvoiced after the crushing victory against Jamshedpur F.C by a score of five-zero in one Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-2025 season match at Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium, Guwahati.

This was the biggest win for the Highlanders in the history of ISL. Parthib Gogoi scored two goals in the match, in the 44th and 55th minutes of the match. Answering a question from Khel Now on why the coach replaced Parthib Gogoi and did not give him a chance to complete his hat-trick, coach Juan Pedro Benali replied that Parthib was not very active then.

“Because he wasn’t that active. There is more space in the attacking half and we need new legs. Suddenly four or five players stopped coming back to defend. We couldn’t give the opponent more chances,” said Juan Pedro Benali.

Juan Pedro Benali added: “I am very happy for him. Now those who have opened their mouths too much can be silent for a week. And we’ll see what happens in the next game.”

We have prepared well

When asked if Jamshedpur FC was an easy opponent, Juan Pedro Benali said the team had been preparing for this match for a week. “We spent a week working on all the details and everything. Nothing is easy.”

“I promise it wasn’t easy. It was playing against a solid team, physically very strong. And we knew if we did our job, followed our game plan, we could win. This is what happened,” added Juan Pedro Benali.

“We have trained a lot for that. You know, nothing is easy. Sit on a bench and you will see how easy it is,” said the tactician.

Unlike Motivation, Juan Pedro Benalis’ plan

The Spanish gaffer also talked about the motivation for the match. Referring to the motivation that Juan Pedro Benali mentioned during the pre-match press conference: “You shouldn’t think that we are done. We did something. Now we must do the opposite. We have to go down a bit. We will give happiness to the players today and tomorrow. Tomorrow we have training and then they have the day off.”

“When they come back, we put them back on earth and start thinking about the Odisha game. Now this game is over. We must think ahead and be humble, keep going, remain strong defensively and be ruthless in attack,” concluded Juan Pedro Benali.
