Dozens of victims after truck crashes into bus stop near Tel Aviv

Israeli emergency services are treating dozens of victims after a truck rammed into a bus as it dropped off passengers at a bus stop near the Glilot military base north of Tel Aviv on Sunday morning.

An Israeli police spokesman said a preliminary investigation showed the truck collided with both passengers and the bus that had stopped.

Citizens at the scene “shot at the truck driver” and killed the person, Israeli police said.

The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation and police have not indicated whether they are treating the incident as a suspected terrorist attack or as a traffic accident.

Ronit Glazer, of Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical services, described a chaotic scene in a video on

She said MDA dispatched “health care units, ambulances, motorcycles, first responders, paramedics and EMTs” to the crash site, where personnel evacuated “victims in their 20s,” including six seriously injured.

MDA remains on site.
