Motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash in Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash in the city’s 7th District. According to police, the incident happened at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Tomlinson Road around 3:32 p.m.

The motorcyclist, who was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, collided with a vehicle turning left onto Tomlinson Road from the southbound lane, authorities said. The impact of the collision caused two additional vehicles to strike the struck car from behind.

Medics took the motorcyclist to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:24 p.m. The identity of the victim has not been released.

No other injuries were reported, police confirmed. Detectives from the department’s Crash Investigation Division (CID) remained on scene as of Friday evening.

The intersection remained secured while officers assessed the crash and cleared the vehicles involved.
