Study at Singapore’s Best University: Two Major Scholarships Offered by NUS for Indian Students to Consider

Over the years, Singapore has become one of the best study abroad destinations in the world. One of the top universities in Singapore is the National University of Singapore or NUS, one of the leading institutions in Asia and ranked 8th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025. The university is touted as a research-intensive, comprehensive university, which is committed to providing a holistic educational experience for its students.

In addition, there are more than 60 bachelor’s degrees and interdisciplinary learning opportunities focused on rigorous education, research and entrepreneurship.

According to the university’s official website, more than 38,000 students from 100 countries study at NUS.

NUS understands its international appeal and offers a range of scholarships for students seeking university admission. Two of the scholarships that students from India can consider are as follows:

1. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship for International Students is offered to support excellent students from Asian countries (excluding Singapore). Applicants applying for this scholarship will be considered and shortlisted through their application for admission to NUS.

Advantages:

  • Subsidized tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Subsidy) and compulsory tuition fees
  • S$6,000 annual living allowance
  • One-time computer fee of S$1,750 upon registration
  • S$200 one-time establishment fee upon registration
  • Annual accommodation allowance equal to the lowest double room rate for on-campus accommodation
  • Travel allowance to cover transportation costs for inbound travel from home country to Singapore at the start of the program, and return travel between Singapore and home country upon completion of the program (subject to proof of employment).

Suitability:

  • Must be a citizen of an Asian country or region, excluding Singapore
  • Has strong leadership qualities and potential
  • Has excellent results in co-curricular activities
  • Have excellent high school results
  • Applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate program in Computer Science, Engineering (excluding Infrastructure and Project Management) or Science (excluding Environmental Studies and Pharmacy) at NUS
  • Transfer applicants from local or foreign universities are not eligible

2. NUS INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The NUS International Undergraduate Scholarship provides support to deserving students from all countries (except Singapore).

Applicants will be assessed for scholarship eligibility based on the strength of their application. Once shortlisted, they will be informed by email and selection interviews will take place from January to July. The results of the interview will be announced in mid-July.

  • Subsidized Tuition Fees (After MOE Tuition Subsidy)
  • S$5,800 annual living allowance
  • One-time computer fee of S$1,750 upon registration
  • S$5,000 annual housing allowance

Suitability:

  • The applicant must have strong leadership qualities and potential
  • Applicant must have an excellent record of co-curricular activities
  • Must possess excellent high school records
  • Must apply for admission to a full-time undergraduate program at NUS
