Now it’s time to start planning your holiday getaway or staycationespecially if you want to redeem frequent flyer miles or hotel points to reduce the cost of your trip to almost nothing. Here’s what you can expect on your travels this fall.

Earn Hyatt points by training with Peloton

World of Hyatt Members cand are now linking their accounts to Peloton to earn 100 Hyatt Points after each workout session lasting at least 20 minutes using Peloton equipment at participating Hyatt hotels. Members can earn as many as 12,000 points annually, which is enough for a free Category 3 hotel stay or at least two Category 1 hotels. This is part of the brand’s broader focus to promote wellbeing while traveling and at home.

Hilton uses AI to provide assistance to visually impaired guests

Through an exclusive partnership with Be My Eyes, Hilton Hotels and Resorts properties in the US and Canada can help guests who are blind or visually impaired by using artificial intelligence through a free mobile app that connects them to sighted volunteers using live video and artificial intelligence. This service helps guide them through the hotel and also gives them access to a team of specially trained, English-speaking Hilton customer service agents. Their assistance may include assisting with adjusting the room thermostat, using the in-room coffee machines, and navigating the hotel’s meeting rooms, restaurants, bars, and recreational facilities.

Westin LAX opens new club lounge

The Westin Los Angeles Airport is about to open a new lobby-level club lounge for hotel guests. Although it has no natural light, it does have the largest selection of food and drinks of any hotel on the runways. Accessible to The elite of Marriott Bonvoy On a complimentary basis or to anyone booking a Club Room, it offers a hot and cold morning and evening offering, refreshments all day and an evening honor bar with beer, ready-made cocktails and a new wine dispenser.

While both brands are touting this as a win for members, the news is actually bittersweet for cardholders with top-elite status. The best benefit of the partnership for the top Hyatt elite and top US loyalty members was mutual earning, which meant frequent flyers earned Hyatt points and US miles during their stay in Hyatt Hotels and Hyatt Elite Status Members Earn hotel points and airline miles when you fly American. This rewarding offer ends at the end of 2024.

While not much comfort, there are some other changes, such as the ability to redeem for reciprocal rewards when elite members reach certain thresholds within either program. This includes things like elite status benefits and hotel stays. American will also adopt a popular feature from Hyatt, giving members the chance to share elite status for the day with someone who doesn’t currently have it, allowing for things like priority boarding, better seats and even free upgrades based on availability .

First new hotel opened in Palm Beach in four years

Palm House will be the first U.S. property for a London-based company Iconic luxury hotels collection when it opens next year. It celebrates the attention Palm Beach has received thanks to Apple TV+’s Palm Royale. Bartenders wear white tuxedo jackets as they serve luxurious cocktails amid floor-to-ceiling shells, undersea ‘tapestries’ and hand-blown coral, custom Murano glass chandeliers designed especially for Palm House. The two-story Presidential Suite features an Alaskan King bed, the largest hotel bed in Palm Beach.

Santa Marta, Colombia celebrates 500 years

To celebrate its 500th anniversary next year, Santa Marta, Colombia (the oldest city in the country and one of the oldest in the Americas) highlights the many reasons why travelers should visit the destination. According to Marriott research on travel in 2025, people are looking for less-visited places to visit with less crowds. Santa Marta has everything from the nearby Tayrona National Natural Park, beautiful beaches and the historic city center with a beautiful cathedral. The Santa Marta Marriott Resort Playa Dormida is offering special rates to celebrate, such as ‘La Perla’, which includes breakfast for two people per morning, early check-in and late check-out.

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman upgrades dining options

The food and beverage experience is completely different at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, following major renovations at both Blue by Eric Ripert and Andiamo. Blue is the only Forbes five-star restaurant in the Caribbean and will host the 16th annual Cayman Cookout in January 2025. To celebrate the changes, the property is also offering a Marriott Bonvoy Moments package, which allows travelers to bid their points for a luxury experience. It would include an invitation to the reopening gala with chef Eric Ripert, a signed copy of his coffee book, a 90-minute spa treatment, a three-night stay and other tourist activities such as an excursion to Stingray City.
