Israel terror attack: 1 dead, 40 injured in truck ramming at bus stop in Tel Aviv

One person was killed and about 40 were injured in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Sunday after a truck collided with a bus stop at a prominent intersection in the city. Israeli police suspect it was a terrorist attack and are investigating the driver’s motives.

Notably, the incident took place near the Glilot military base at around 10:00 am (08:00 GMT), when the truck driver, an Israeli national, veered off course while driving from north to south and crashed into the bus stop, killing both bus as the people were rammed. waiting there.

The driver was then shot and “neutralized” by an armed civilian in the area, according to a report from Reuters news agency.

About forty people were injured, some of whom are in serious condition. The injured were quickly transported to nearby hospitals, including the Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv, where one of the victims tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Sheba Medical Center, another medical facility in the region, treated eight injured people, including both civilians and soldiers, police said.

Israeli media reported that the driver was an Israeli Arab from Qalansawe, a city in central Israel.

The Iranian-backed terrorist group Hamas released a statement shortly after the incident praising the “heroic ram attack” carried out near the “Mossad headquarters.”

The Glilot area, located near Herzliya, is home to the headquarters of the Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency. This area also houses several Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intelligence units, most notably the prominent Signals Intelligence Unit 8200, known for its role in national security and cyber intelligence.

“A natural response to the crimes of the Zionist occupation against our Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, and the continued brutal massacres, especially in the northern Gaza Strip,” the spokesperson said. Times of Israel quoted Hamas, although the terror group did not take responsibility for the incident.
