Kyran Durnin: “We need to understand what went wrong,” says O’Gorman

Speaking to RTÉ’s This Week programme, O’Gorman said the agency’s report should be completed within the next week.

He added that he did not know if Tusla had received a referral due to Kyran’s extended absence from school, but he expects this to be mentioned in the report.

“This case has shocked the whole country, I think,” he said.

“It is deeply disturbing that a child went missing and had no contact with government authorities for a period of two years and we need to understand what went wrong in this particular case,” the minister said.

“We can absolutely understand all the arrangements that this child and his family had with Tusla and also with other elements of the state, and what went wrong in this situation.”
