Henrico supervisors express concerns about relations with Henrico schools

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – “Frustrating,” “strangeness,” “nervous,” “uncharted waters” – these are the words Henrico Board of Supervisors Chairman Tyrone Nelson and other supervisors used during an Oct. 22 joint meeting with the Henrico School Board to describe the current working relationship of the two boards.

The boards arranged the meeting to discuss a collective bargaining proposal for HCPS employees, which the school board ultimately rejected during the Oct. 24 work session. However, discussions at the joint meeting shifted from collective bargaining to some board supervisors’ concerns about animosity between the two boards.
