Teenager killed, two others injured in shooting at Halloween party

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – One teenager is dead and two others are injured after a shooting at a Halloween party in Ohio Saturday evening.

According to a statement from the Akron Police Department, officers responded to a shooting at a Halloween party at a home in the 100 block of Paris Avenue around 10:46 p.m.

Officers arrived at the scene to find an 18-year-old girl seriously injured from a gunshot wound.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were also found with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the two ran from the incident after being shot.

Police say the younger teens are expected to recover, but the 18-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending further investigation.

Based on preliminary investigation, an unknown man grabbed a gun during the Halloween party and fired shots while inside the house beating the teens.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old man after a brief foot chase and recovered a gun he threw while fleeing police.

However, it is not yet known what role the man played in the shooting. Detectives are still working to determine who fired the shots.

Police have charged the man with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business. According to the release, officers sent him to the Summit County Jail, where he was booked.
