Steelers have one huge potential disappointment game looming on rough 2024 schedule

The Pittsburgh Steelers will host one Monday night football game against the New York Giants in Week 8 and improve to 6-2 for the season with a win. This would be an extremely solid figure that was essential to give the team’s brutal back end Schedule 2024. Regardless of the outcome, the franchise will enter the bye week as the Baltimore Ravens suffered a division loss Sunday against the Cleveland Browns to lead the AFC North. After another loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, it appears the Steelers and Ravens will once again battle for the division crown.

There is an extremely strong possibility that both games that Pittsburgh and Baltimore play against each other will have a significant amount of significance when it comes to the picture of the AFC playoffs. The Steelers are desperate for a home playoff game as the organization longs for another win in the playoffs, which hasn’t happened since the 2016 campaign.

After the game against the Giants, Head Coach Mike Tomlin will look forward to a timely bye week before the tough stretch. The trade deadline starts on November 5 and there will be a lot of excitement in the Steel City. One of the first things to look forward to after the break is a monumental Week 11 matchup in Pittsburgh against the Ravens. But not so fast.

Tomlin’s teams have been known to have letdown games for years. Whether that has to do with competition, or simply not taking a certain opponent seriously enough with a big match the following week. That’s exactly what could happen after the bye week. When the schedule was originally drawn, no one really believed that the Washington Commanders would lead the NFC East entering Week 9.

The Commanders appear to be on track to completely reinvent the franchise. The dominoes started to fall after Dan Snyder eventually sold the team, but bringing in Dan Quinn as head coach and drafting Jayden Daniels as quarterback followed suit, and it’s definitely paid off so far. While the sample size is small, it’s clear that Daniels has the ability to play at a high level, and with a bit of luck, after a game-winning Hail Mary in Week 8.
