A little bit of everything this week

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – This week brings a little bit of everything. We have potential record highs to start the week, rain arriving mid-week and a few strong storms also possible Tuesday evening/very early Wednesday morning.

Record highs could fall any of the next few days. Some communities are expecting as much as 1-2 inches of rain later this week.

Let’s focus on Monday first. We will see mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid 60s across north central Wisconsin. While a few communities will be flirting with record highs on Monday (mainly Wausau and Merrill), I think we’ll have a much better shot at this across the area on Tuesday. Despite a fair amount of cloud cover, highs will top out in the mid 70s. Several record highs are expected to fall on Tuesday, which will be our warmest day of the week.

Rain chances increase late Tuesday and early Wednesday. While a few storms are possible late Tuesday through late Wednesday, most of us will have to wait until after dawn Wednesday for rain to fall. Any strong to severe storms are expected to remain to our west. These storms will be part of a much larger system that will last through Wednesday and even Thursday. By the time this system is out of our area, some communities could receive as much as 1 to 2″ of rain.

Once the cold front passes, we will be done with this period of warmer temperatures. The rest of the week will look more like fall. More rain is possible over the weekend, with the greatest chance of rain after midweek on Sunday.
