One dead, five injured in shooting at a Halloween party in Shasta County

One person was killed and five others were injured in a shooting incident that occurred at a Halloween party in Shasta County in the early hours of Sunday, October 27.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said around 1:10 a.m., deputies were dispatched to reports of a gunshot victim at a residence located in the 2100 block of Highway 299 East, Bella Vista.

The incident appeared to take place at the location of a large Halloween party. SCSO said Redding and Anderson police responded to the scene to assist. At the location, SCSO said an 18-year-old man was found dead, while five other adult victims were injured with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the five adults were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The identity of the deceased 18-year-old is being kept secret until next of kin have been notified.

SCSO said the shooter was identified and interviewed. The police assured that there is no danger to the public at this time. The reason for the shooting is still under investigation.
