A leader of the recently banned Rajshahi unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League has been arrested in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.

The detainee, Jannatul Ferdous Tamanna Pia, was detained by students today (October 27) after she went to attend an exam on the third article of Islamic Studies at the Rajshahi Government Women’s College, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) said.

“She was later handed over to the police. She is a suspect in a case filed at Boalia police station. She has been arrested in the explosives case,” RMP Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Media) Sabina Yasmin said.

“We produced her before the court. The court later sent her to jail,” the police official added.

Pia was the environmental affairs secretary of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Chhatra League.
