The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on October 28 on Israel’s attack on Iran – source – World

UNITED NATIONS, October 27. /TASS/. The United Nations Security Council will meet on October 28 for a meeting on Israel’s attack on Iran, a source at the world body told TASS.

“On October 28 at three in the afternoon (7:00 GMT), the United Nations Security Council will hold a meeting on the Middle East at the request of Iran, which was backed by Algeria, China and China,” the source said.

On Saturday, the Iranian mission to the United Nations asked Switzerland, as chairman of the UN Security Council, to convene an emergency meeting after Israel’s attack.

In addition, the Iranian mission called on UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council to take a strong stand and strongly and unequivocally condemn the Israeli attack. Tehran also stressed that it reserves the right to seek legitimate retaliation.

On October 26, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it was carrying out surgical strikes on military targets in Iran “in response to months of continued attacks.” Iran’s military, in turn, said some of its facilities in Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam provinces had been attacked, but Israel caused only limited damage as the country’s air defense systems had averted the main impact.

On October 1, the Islamic Republic launched a massive rocket attack on Israel in response to the assassinations of senior officials from the Palestinian movement Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. According to the Israeli side, approximately 180 projectiles were fired, most of which were intercepted. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned that attacks on Israel would only increase.
