Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants opens Avon location on November 4

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, a lifestyle brand focused on food and wine, announces the opening of its seventh Ohio region location in Avon on Nov. 4, according to a press release.

The new restaurant is located at 35351 Chester Road.

Cooper’s Hawk is an award-winning Napa-style winery, restaurant, craft market and tasting room concept headquartered in Countryside, Illinois, the release said.

The company was founded in 2005 by CEO Tim McEnery.

Cooper’s Hawk is built on McEnery’s passionate belief that food and wine have the power to forge lasting connections, the release said.

Its restaurants are home to more than 300,000 Wine Club members who enjoy limited production Wines of the Month, unique travel and dining experiences and many other benefits, the release said.

Avon’s culinary team is led by Kevin Cassetto, who works closely with Executive Chef Matt McMillin to ensure the very best quality and presentation while redefining the modern casual dining experience, the release said.

The Modern American menu is infused with international flavors, and each dish on the menu is listed with a container number, directing guests to the perfect wine pairing of their selection, the release said.

Cooper’s Hawk offers a variety of lunch, brunch, Happy Hour and dinner options, as well as a special gluten-free menu, youth menu, takeout and catering.

Popular dishes include:

• Crispy Brussels Sprouts — Cashews, Mint, Sweet Tai Chili, Sesame-Sriracha Aioli

• Trio of medallions: horseradish medallions, blue cheese and parmesan-crusted fillet, Mary’s potatoes, asparagus

• Soy Ginger Atlantic Salmon — Wasabi buttered puree, Asian slaw

• Gnocchi Carbonara — Pancetta, chicken, sage, peas, parmesan garlic cream sauce

• Drunken Shrimp – Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Tequila Lime Butter Sauce, Fresh Guacamole

The winery has received more than 500 wine awards, imports grapes from the best vineyards around the world and produces more than 40 grape varieties at the winery in Woodridge, Illinois, according to the release.

Cooper’s Hawk wines are crafted to please a range of palates and include selections accessible to those new to the wine world, as well as complex and full-bodied options for more seasoned drinkers, the release said.

Guests can also choose from a selection of craft cocktails and sangrias made with Cooper’s Hawk wine.

The restaurant’s design evokes a “modern artisan” style, taking inspiration and cues from Ohio’s landscapes.

The sloping roof detail creates a dramatic entrance that evokes an airy atmosphere that carries through the interior of the space.

For a distinctly local tribute, the new location will feature an original work of art designed by Ohio artist Joe Girandola.

The mural, titled “The Winery Table,” is made entirely of duct tape, a nod to Avon’s designation as the “duct tape capital of the world,” according to the releases.

This location features a large indoor dining room that seats 300 guests and a covered patio that seats an additional 44 people.

The dining room features a U-cabin wall that has created a nook surrounded by vertical wooden slats and Cooper’s Hawk wine bottles on display to keep the art of wine at the forefront.

Many of the lighting fixtures and finishes in the space are heavily textured to evoke that artisanal feel, combining with natural and organic tones to create a very warm and inviting atmosphere, the release said.

The venue also offers flexible private dining space for up to 48 guests, which is divisible by a sliding wall creating two smaller spaces for up to 24 people each.

As with every Cooper’s Hawk location, the restaurant is surrounded by a Napa-style tasting room and retail space.

For reservations, please call 757-213-7777.

Cooper’s Hawk is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and closed on Sunday.
