VP Harris urged to stop ‘turning up the heat’ with anti-Trump rhetoric: ‘Boiling cauldron’ of hate

Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike JohnsonR-La., urged Vice President Harris to stamp out inflammatory rhetoric that has compared former President Trump to dangerous figures from dark chapters of modern history, labeled him “fascist” and portrayed him as a threat to democracy.

“Kamala Harris’ latest rhetoric evokes the darkest period of the 20th century. They (the Democrats) compare Donald Trump to Hitler and Mussolini. It’s desperate, but it’s also very dangerous, and it’s very irresponsible,” he said, standing next to U.S. Congressional candidate Kevin Coughlin, R-Ohio. “Fox & Friends weekend.”

“President Trump has already survived two assassination attempts in a three-month period. It’s like a boiling kettle out there, and you have the vice president now using her platform to turn up the heat. It’s really dangerous.’

Johnson and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., wrote a rare joint statement Friday demanding Harris stop such rhetoric about the former president while reminding her of two attempts on his life in the recent months.

“When you label a political opponent ‘fascist’ you risk inviting another potential murderer to deprive voters of their choice before Election Day,” the statement reads in part.

The message later continued: “We have both been briefed on the ongoing and ongoing threats against former President Donald Trump by adversaries of the United States, and we call on the Vice President to take these threats seriously, to stop escalating the threat environment and helping to ensure that President Trump has the necessary resources to be protected from these threats.”

When Fox News Digital asked the Harris campaign to respond to the statement, they initially declined.

During a recent town hall with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Harris agreed with retired Gen. Mark Milleywhich Trump described in journalism as ‘fascist to the core’ Bob Woodward’s latest book.

House Speaker Mike Johnson wrote a joint statement with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., urging Harris to tone down her rhetoric.

Speaking in Houston on Friday, Harris emphasized that she has been “very clear” that it is critical to speak out against all forms of political violence, when asked about Republican leaders’ criticism of her rhetoric.

She continued, saying, “Some of the people closest to Donald Trump when he was president, generals, including most recently John Kelly, a four-star Marine general, have been very clear about the danger and threat that Donald Trump poses to America . and the fact that he is unfit to serve, and the American people deserve to hear that and know about that….”

At the same time, The Atlantic, which supported Harris for president, compared Trump to several fascist dictatorsincluding Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Joseph Stalin.

Others, including actor Robert De Niro and MSNBC host Joy Reid, have made similar comparisons in the past.
