Palm Coast man accused of threatening inspection workers with a machete

A Palm Coast man has been accused of threatening to attack inspection personnel with a machete while they temporarily blocked a road.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said Miguel Rodriguez, 43, was upset on Oct. 23 because employees of a stormwater inspection and maintenance company temporarily blocked Belle Terre Parkway and Kaywood Place in Palm Coast.

Officers reported that the workers told them that Rodriguez drove around their workplace, got out of his truck with a machete and yelled at them, “I’m going to chop up some b*****s.”

One worker told FCSO he feared for his life and hid from Rodriguez in a wooded area.

Rodriguez reportedly got back into his truck and left the scene after noticing traffic starting to back up.

FCSO stated that they located Rodrigues three miles away on Zerington Court with several machetes in his truck, one of which was on his dashboard.

In a conversation with officers, Rodriguez stated that the workers stopped him and that he was angry that he saw no warning signs, even though the workers claimed there were several.

The report noted that when Rodriguez was taken into custody in a patrol car, he repeatedly hit his head on the partition, causing a gash.

Rodriguez has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
