Edmonton pedestrian dies after being hit by Jeep at intersection

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in north-central Edmonton.

Edmonton police said in a news release Sunday afternoon that the 18-year-old was crossing 107 Avenue and 130 Street and walking north at 12:30 p.m. when she was struck by an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The woman died on the spot.

Police have charged the 34-year-old woman driving the Jeep with failure to operate after an accident resulting in death and impaired operation resulting in death.
