Man arrested in connection with Waipahu crash that seriously injured woman

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu police are investigating a crash in Waipahu that left a 76-year-old woman in critical condition Sunday morning.

It happened around 7:40 a.m. near Farrington Highway and Pahu Street.

According to Honolulu police, a vehicle driven by a 55-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway and was making a right turn onto Pahu Street when it struck the woman, who was walking across the street.

The woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Police said the driver initially stopped and later fled without rendering aid.

He was later arrested for collision causing death or serious bodily injury.

It does not appear that speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
