Alleged drug personality shot dead in Bacolod

An alleged drug personality in Bacolod City was shot dead by two unknown motorcycle-riding assailants at the JJJ Lobaton Building, Araneta Street, Barangay Tangub, on Saturday, October 26, around 11 p.m.

Police identified the fatal victim as Christopher Zuniga, a resident of Barangay Pahanocoy.

Captain Greeky Cayao, commander of Police Station 8, said yesterday that Zuniga was parking his motorcycle along the JJJ Lobaton Building, Araneta Street, when unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants shot at him several times and fled towards the southbound direction of Araneta Street.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Police recovered four spent shells with unidentified firearms, four plastic bags containing suspected shabu, P900 cash and a motorcycle from the crime scene.

Police are monitoring illegal drugs as a possible motive for the victim’s murder.

Cayao said Zuniga was a former detainee for illegal drug offense and was released in September 2023.

He said they would work with the business center near the area to monitor closed-circuit television (CCTV) to establish the identity of the suspects, who are wearing helmets. /CARD
