Josh Jobe provides ‘lonely bright spot’ with interception in Seahawks’ Week 8 loss to Bills

Jobe, who decommitted from Alabama in 2022, spent the past two seasons with the Eagles and then signed with Seattle’s practice squad before the start of the season, in part for a chance to play for Seahawks coach/passing game coordinator Karl. Scott, who was the defensive backs coach at Alabama during Jobe’s first three seasons there.

And after making a good impression on the coaches in practice, Jobe has been given his chance in the past two weeks and has made the most of it.

“That’s great,” cornerback Riq Woolen said of Jobe’s play. “Josh is a hard worker and just talking to him you know he is hungry and always ready to play. So to see him make a play like that, and to see him continue to embrace his role and continue to make plays, is amazing… I’m happy for Josh, he’s a great player and a great person, and I’m here Ready to see him continue to play.”

Added safety Coby Bryant: “He had a great week of practice. He played a lot. That’s what we expected from him. He stepped up and played big. I’m very happy for him.”

What made the turnover all the more impressive was the fact that Allen had not thrown an interception until the third down pass in the second quarter, giving him a streak of 301 pass attempts, dating back to last season, without an interception. Interestingly, Jobe’s interception marked the third consecutive season in which the Seahawks defense has ended a long stretch without interceptions for an opposing quarterback.

In 2022, when the Seahawks played the Buccaneers in Munich, Tom Brady needed just three more pass attempts without an interception to break Aaron Rodgers’ record of 402 consecutive passes without a pick, but Cody Barton ended the streak just under record with an interception. Last season, Detroit’s Jared Goff approached that same record, with his streak of 383 attempts without an interception before Tre Brown intercepted him and returned it 40 yards for a score.
