Veteran player manager Pickering has been shocked by the amount of talent being cut by AFL clubs

Experienced player agent Liam Pickering from Bravo Talent Management I can’t remember so many talented AFL players being cut in one off-season.

Some of the bigger names left out ahead of inclusion on the October 31 initial list include Carlton’s Jack Carroll and Jack Martin, Geelong’s Brandan Parfitt, Richmond’s Noah Cumberland and North Melbourne’s Curtis Taylor.

With Pickering unable to recall so much talent losing their place on the AFL rosters, he expects many players to be picked up in what is considered a strong draft and there are some quality options for clubs to look at in the supplementary selection before the season. Period and the 2025 Mid-Season Draft.

“Charlie Lazzaro and Tom Emmett have (also) been cut,” Pickering said SEN is off the bench.

“I can’t remember when so much talent has been taken off the stock market in one year. I mean it.

“It’s a combination of things, one is that it’s tight for places on the list and then there will be more deletions. There will be contracted players who are delisted and start over, that’s already happening.

“Then you have a good draft, and because it’s tight for spots on the roster and it’s a strong draft, that means the SSP and the Mid-Season Draft will be stacked on top of each other.

“He (Cumberland) scored two goals a game, he’s got a bit of talent, Noah.”

Axed players can also join new AFL houses once the scrapped free agency period takes place between November 1 and 8.
