Man injured in shooting in downtown Toronto, 1 suspect wanted

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in east downtown Toronto on Sunday evening.

The incident happened in the Cabbagetown South area, near Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East.

Toronto police said they were called to that area just before 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots heard in the area.

They said officers found a male victim with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and a vehicle fled the area.

Police say the two suspects, a man and a woman, fled the area.

In a follow-up post to X, they said officers located the suspects’ vehicle, which was involved in a single-vehicle collision.

One of the suspects was arrested, the other fled.

A firearm was also recovered, they said.

No further description of the suspect is available at this time.

There is currently an increased police presence in the area.

Sherbourne is closed between Dundas and Gerrard streets and police are asking motorists to use alternative routes.
