Passenger seriously injured after deer crashes into SUV on I-70

CONCORDIA, Mo. (KCTV) – The passenger of an SUV was seriously injured after a deer on I-70 caused a serious early morning collision this weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that on Sunday, October 27, around 2:35 a.m., emergency services were called to the area of ​​eastbound I-70 and Missouri Highway 23, in Concordia, for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said Justin M. McClung, 38, of Glen Jena, West Virginia, was driving his Nissan Armada east on the highway when a deer entered the roadway.

State Troopers noticed that McClung was unable to avoid the creature and struck it head-on.

Emergency officials said McClung’s passenger, Farrah M. McClung, 38, of Mount Hope, West Virginia, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
